If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s really like to put on a badge to serve and protect, Michael Csoke is more than happy to tell you. In his 30-year career, he has encountered and dealt with everything from smash-and-grab artists and street corner crack dealers to the most sophisticated crime organizations and international fugitives, including war criminals. Most of his work has been on the rough and tumble streets of Hamilton, Ontario — a city dominated by the Mafia and biker gangs as it struggled to find itself after the steel industry left town for good.
30 Years a Cop is a fascinating, in-depth examination of what it means to be a big city police officer. Csoke’s sincere and candid observations challenge the public perception of policing, it also puts a human face on the profession.
“As you read my stories, you might wonder how you could have been so naive about what was going on in your city.” — Csoke

Dave is like nobody you’ve ever met. Or maybe you have, but didn’t know it. Thrown out of his home at 14, he used his wits, charm and determination to become one of the most successful drug dealers in Canada. But, after the birth of his son, he knew he had to make one last big score before getting out of the game. So, he became an undercover police agent, the first one whose life wasn’t in danger.
Jerry Langton, one of Canada’s best known crime authors, follows Dave’s incredible trip while exposing the inner workings of the Canadian drug trade, weapons trade, crime organizations, police investigations and judicial system. Dave became as the president of a major biker gang chapter, robbed a powerful Russian gangster, occupied a maximum-security prison cell next to the notorious Paul Bernardo, struggled to find ways to hide all of his cash, drove cars worth as much as a suburban house without ever having a license and frequently taunted those in law enforcement who never found a way to shut down his drug business.
The most incredible part of the whole story is that all of it was happening right under the noses of frustrated police services and naive neighbors. From a trip to Home Depot to pick up burglary tools to the purchase of a grenade launcher powerful enough to take down a large house, Dave plied his trade with almost total impunity.
“With a few calls, I could get you full-auto, extended magazines, scopes, suppressors, even rocket launchers. I was, sort of, a natural participant.” — Dave

Assessment
If you send us a brief synopsis of your idea (300 or fewer words), and a short bio, we can let you know if we feel the book is right for us to publish.
Unlike vanity publishers, we only work on books that we sincerely believe will make the world a better place. We are only interested in books that we can be proud of, and our standards are pretty high. But we're not a big-time publishing house with money to throw around for advances and book tours.
Instead, we have two plans.
If we feel that the sales potential for your book is large for a general audience, we will share costs and revenue with you.
If we feel that the sales are likely to be lower, we will charge for our services, and you can publish with us or another house. It's up to you.
We apologize, but we have to charge $10 US for this service. Otherwise, we would get far too many to pay close attention to any of them.
For the ten bucks, you will get an honest assessment that outlines what we believe to be the potential for the book, and advice on how to go about it.
Rules
All contents of the book must be the author's own work, work commissioned by the author (including the work of ghost writers, illustrators or photographers) or public domain. All photographs and/or illustrations must be the property of the author or public domain.
Although we discourage the use of AI, it can sometimes be accepted if clearly indicated before submission.
All published books must include libel insurance for the author and publisher. We can provide it, or the author can arrange for their own (don't worry, it's not expensive, and we edit for libel).
To receive royalties, holders of US bank accounts must use the Zelle app. All others will receive money by wire or check for a small fee. Authors must also sign appropriate tax forms as required by the US federal and NY State governments.
Manuscript
Once delivered, the text must be edited. We offer a few levels of editing.
Substantive Editing
This process examines the entire manuscript as raw text, and edits it completely. this might include research and fact-checking by the editor, and minor rewrite (or suggestions for improvement. This is especially appropriate for first-time authors.
Copy Editing
This process ensures the spelling and grammar are correct, and the numbers all add up. The editor might ask for citations to back up any claims in the manuscript.
Proofreading
This is only available for expert authors, and consists of simply checking spelling and grammar.
All copy is edited to our house style, which is based heavily on AP Style, but with fewer abbreviations.
Distribution
Bronxkill will make the book available for online sale through Amazon (internationally) and either Barnes & Noble (US) or Indigo (Canada).
If the author can arrange for other distribution (like bricks-and-mortar stores or their own websites), Bronxkill will provide as many books as desired, charging the wholesale cost of the books plus shipping to the US or Canada and a 10 percent handling fee.
Marketing
Bronxkill is not a marketing company. All publicity and advertising are the resonsibility of the author.
We make paperbacks, hardcovers, ebooks and, for special orders, audiobooks.
Although we prefer to work in the 6 x 9 format, we also offer 5 x 8 and 8½ x 11, as well as the landcape versions of those sizes.
Interior
Authors can select from a few original page designs, or provide instructions for their own.
Pages can be white or cream, and illustrations and photos can also be black-and-white or CMYK color (at extra cost).
Cover
We can design your book's cover, or you can provide your own to match the size and proportions of your book.
Ebooks
Available in the ePub format, they can include embedded videos and links.
The Bronxkill Story
Hi, I'm Jerry. I started Bronxkill to publish my own books and those of others. I began writing professionally when I was a 19-year-old college student, and have been in media ever since. After I decided to leave the office world to help raise my kids, I started writing books.
The first, Fallen Angel, was an immediate bestseller. The second, released almost simultaneously and called Rat, was greeted with even more critical success. Since then, I have written, co-written and ghost written more than a dozen books. Some of them have been bestsellers. My books have been used as university textbooks, quoted on the floor of the California legislature, quoted in Rolling Stone and reviewed in The Wall Street Journal.
But when my publisher — one of the big names that I won't identify here — told me that cutbacks meant that I would have to do the bulk of my own marketing, I started my own publishing company. Since then, I have released books not just by me, but by other authors who deserved to be read, but might not have gotten the chance.
So, I'm opening up my business to other authors — new or established — who deserve a shot. If that's of any interest to you, submit your idea here. Make it brief. If I think your idea has legs, I'll ask for a pitch. I'm sorry, but I have to charge $10 US for each pitch to reduce the number of submissions I get, and to cover legal costs.
What happens after that is up to you.
Best,
Jerry
PS: Bronxkill isn't meant to sound violent. It's just the name of a small creek I was near when I came up with the idea.
